NBA 2K18 Mode Breakdown

A question we’ve been asked repeatedly is what game modes will be available for which systems. Below is a summary of each game mode in NBA 2K18.

We've broken these modes down into sections, divided between Single Player and Multiplayer modes.

Additionally, there's a handy table at the bottom of this post that shows which platforms will have what modes available.

Single-player

MyCAREER

• Create a customized player and take him from trying out as rookie to a star. Work your way to a starting position on the team, courting sponsorships and winning fans on Social Media along the way. As opposed to Off Day Training (from the previous two games), NBA 2K18 features The Neighborhood, an online community where you can move around a small neighborhood when you’re not playing in the NBA. There’s a gym where you can work out (a series of mini-games tied to activities like weightlifting, agility training, and speed training), stores to visit, street ball courts to play pickup games in, and a PRO-AM stadium you can walk in and out of. Other players will also populate The Neighborhood, populating the area to create a vibrant online community.
• NOTE: The Neighborhood is only accessible when connected online and only available on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.

MyGM (XB1, PS4, PC, and Switch)

• For the first time, MyGM introduces a narrative-driven, story-based franchise experience ("MyGM: The Next Chapter") that maintains all of the user control and team building aspects that fans have come to love over the years. Your path will be determined by the choices you make and the answers you provide at many key points in the narrative. 

MyCOURT (XB1, PS4, PC, and Switch)

• MyCOURT is returning, as part of the MyCAREER general hub. You’ll be able to customize your court via the 2K Sports Store, and also show off your various awards/accomplishments. As before, you can invite virtual friends over to check out the court and play games together.

MyLEAGUE (XB1, PS4, and PC)

• 2K’s fan-favorite franchise mode allows users complete customization over their league. Choose the number of games and teams, adjust the league settings, and apply your custom setup to a single season, multi-season or online experience. Or, skip the regular season and jump right into to the Playoffs.

Multiplayer

MyLEAGUE Online

• MyLEAGUE Online is going to see similar play/campaigns like in 2K17, but it will include a number of additions/improvements. You’ll be able to rebrand and relocate teams. League admins can customize CPU teams. League admins can restart playoff games that render a result after one player unexpectedly drops from the game.

MyTEAM (360, PS3, PS4, XB1, PC, Switch)

• A dynamic team creation system that allows users to create custom logos, jerseys, court floors and arenas. Users will be able to choose their own look and team name creating their own NBA franchise. New feaatures include Strategy Cards (which provide boosts to your team), Super Max (salary-capped teams going against one another in a new season mode), Packs & Playoffs (a new 5v5 draft mode), and Schedule Challenges (a 30-game schedule for each of the 30 NBA teams).
• NOTE: MyTEAM requires an online connection and MyTEAM Online and its features are only available for PS4, XB1, Switch, and PC. On PS3 and 360, you can play tournaments with AI and other players, go head-to-head with friends, and purchase packs to build your team.

MyPARK (PS4, XB1, PC, Switch)

• This year, MyPARK won’t have multiple venues or the Park Rep system. This is because of the Road to 99. You can access MyPARK in The Neighborhood.

2K Pro-Am (PS4, XB1, PC, Switch)

• Pro-Am returns this year. Call plays and set up zone defense/offense.

Local Play (Switch only)

• You can connect up to four devices locally to play with your friends in Play Now
