The Definitive Editions of Mafia I and Mafia II may open with the incorrect language when launched on the Steam Deck. If you're playing either of these games on the Steam Deck and aren't seeing your language changing to match Steam's selection, follow these steps to force the game to fully disable the launcher and open with the language set by your Steam preferences.
Mafia I: Definitive Edition
- From the Main Menu, select "Options" and then select "Game"
- Scroll down to the last option on the list (may not be immediately visible) and toggle the "Disable Launcher" option to "On"
- Close the game and then relaunch it.
- The game will now open in the language set in Steam Properties.
Mafia II: Definitive Edition
- From the Main Menu, select "Options" and then select "Game Settings"
- Toggle the "Disable Launcher" option to "On"
- Close the game and then relaunch it.
- The game will now open in the language set in Steam Properties.
