When starting BioShock I receive either of the following error messages Original Disc Not Found (Error 1000 or 4001) or Authentication Timeout.
In these cases, please create and send an analysis file using the instructions (below).
In order to generate this analysis file, please do the following:
NOTE: If you need to generate an analysis file for evaluation before the installation of the game has completed, there will be not be a desktop shortcut to point to (step 3 below). It will therefore be necessary to "right-click" on the application itself (options are included in instructions).
Windows XP:
- Make sure the original "play" disc is in a physical, local CD or DVD drive.
- Please re-start your computer (the reboot is to assure there are no additional instances of the software running when generating the file).
- With the mouse, "right-click" on the desktop shortcut, or the actual application's executable file, and a menu will appear. If you are generating an analysis file for the downloader exe, "right-click" on the file on the disc at this path: Your_Disc_Drive\srdownloader\BioshockAutoPatcher.exe.
- Choose "Launch Analysis" from the choices beneath "Open" and release the mouse button.
- A disclaimer window may appear on your screen. To proceed, please click on the "Yes" button. A window stating that an Analysis log will be generated may appear, if so click OK. If an error message appears, please click "Cancel" to continue.
- After a period of time, the program will generate a file named "AnalysisLog.sr0" and place it at the root of your hard drive (usually C:). To locate, you can go to "My Computer," open the hard drive (often C:\) and locate the analysis file. Note: Vista users, see below. When the file has been generated, a dialog will appear stating it has finished. Click "OK" to complete the process.
- Please "zip" the file using a program such as WinZip, WinRAR, or WinAce (to avoid email corruption), and attach it to your email to support@securom.com.
Windows Vista:
Follow the steps outlined above through step 6. Using Vista, the filed will be stored in the following path: C:\Users\YOUR USER\AppData\Local\Temp\AnalysisLog.sr0. If by chance this folder is hidden, you may have to display hidden folders. Please follow the steps:
- Go to 'Start' and than left click the option 'Control Panel'.
- Left click on "Appearance and Personalization." Please select now the option "Folder Options."
- Now select the "View" tab, and select "Show hidden files and folders." You should now have access to the folder in question.
- If you do not see the "Launch Analysis" option available in the context menu, it can be generated using the command line. Please follow these steps:
- Make sure the original "play" disc is in a physical, local CD or DVD drive.
- Please restart your computer (the reboot is to assure there are not additional instances of the software running when generating the file).
- Click with the right button of your mouse on the shortcut icon of your software program on your computer desktop.
- Choose Properties, then highlight and copy everything inin the "Target" window (Ctrl - C).
- Click on the "Start" button in your toolbar, click "Run," type "cmd" in the text box and press enter. A DOS window will appear.

To locate, you can go to "My Computer," open the hard drive (often C:\) and locate the analysis file. Note: Vista users, see notes above.
