We've received some reports that some users are unable to start Civilization: Beyond Earth because they have Nvidia stereoscopic 3D is enabled; this 3D graphics mode is not supported by the game.
A solution we've found for some users is to simply disable the stereoscopic 3D. This can be done by accessing the Nvidia Control Panel and making sure the box next to "Enable stereoscopic 3D" is deselected. See the image below for reference.
If you're not sure how to open the Nvidia Control Panel, please follow the instructions below.
Under Windows Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8:
- Right‐click the Windows desktop, then click "NVIDIA Control Panel" from the context menu, or
- Click the Start icon, then from the Start menu click "Control Panel."
- From the Classic View of the Windows Vista Control Panel, click the "NVIDIA Control Panel" icon, or
- From the Control Panel Home view of the Windows Vista Control Panel, click "Additional Options" and then click "NVIDIA Control Panel" from the Additional Options page.
