With the new addition of cross-play between the Steam and Epic versions of Borderlands 3, all players on both platforms will now be required to set their own SHiFT display name. This will be required regardless of whether or not cross-play is enabled.
If you already have an existing SHiFT Account linked to your Platform ID, SHiFT will automatically recommend a Display Name based on your current Platform ID. SHiFT Display Names must be unique; in other words, your Display Name cannot be the same as any other user’s Display Name.
- In-game, you’ll be asked if you’d like to enable SHiFT PC Cross-Play. This feature will enable you to play with PC players on other PC Platforms. You can always change these settings later in the Network Options Menu! "
