The story of Tommy Angelo's descent into the criminal underworld of 1930s Lost Heaven is coming to modern consoles on August 14, 2026. Mafia: Definitive Edition on PS5 and XBOX Series X|S is the same great game from 2020, now with 60 FPS gameplay and technical improvements.

How do I get the upgrade?
PlayStation:
If you already own a physical or digital version of Mafia: Definitive Edition on PlayStation 4, either as a stand-alone game or part of the Trilogy collection, that was purchased before August 14, you'll receive the digital version of Mafia: Definitive Edition on PS5 for free, which will be downloadable via the PlayStation Store. For owners of the digital PS4 version, just search the PlayStation Store for the PS5 version and you can add it to your Library.
To upgrade a PS4 physical disc to a PS5 digital version, you must have a PS5 console with a disc drive. After inserting the PS4 disc, you can go to the game hub and select the upgrade offer to download the digital PS5 version. This does mean you must keep the PS4 disc inserted to play.
XBOX:
In case you already own a digital version of Mafia: Definitive Edition, either as a stand-alone game or part of the Trilogy collection, on XBOX One, that was purchased before August 14, you'll receive the digital version of Mafia: Definitive Edition on XBOX Series X|S for free, which will be downloadable via the Microsoft Store. If you own the Trilogy, visit your Library and it will be waiting for you. But if you just own Mafia: Definitive Edition you’ll search the XBOX Store for that Series X|S version which will be free to download.

What do I do to get my PlayStation5 or XBOX Series X|S edition?
- PS5 Digital: Visit the PlayStation Store to claim the PS5 version.
- PS5 Disc: Use the PS4 disc in your PS5, go to the Game Hub to select the upgrade offer, which will let you download the PS5 version digitally.
- Leave the PS4 disc in your PS5 to play, removing it will remove your access.
- XBOX Digital: For Trilogy, just visit your Library to download the new version for your Series X|S. For Definitive Edition search the XBOX Store for the free to download Series X|S version.
- XBOX Disc: XBOX doesn’t support Gen 8 disc to Gen 9 upgrades.
If I bought my copy of Mafia: Definitive Edition, Mafia: Trilogy, or Mafia: Omerta Edition on or after August 14, how do I get my Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5 version?
Great news, if your purchase was on or after August 14, then the cross-gen edition will already be in your Library. No extra effort required.
Can I transfer saves or achievements to my newer console?
Existing players unfortunately won't be able to transfer save files from Mafia: Definitive Edition on PS4 or XBOX One to Mafia: Definitive Edition on PS5 and XBOX Series X|S respectively. The same goes for Achievements. Please see our FAQ page for full details.
How do I get my Loyalty rewards on my platform if I have multiple Mafia games?
Make sure your copies of all the Mafia games you own and play are linked to your 2K Account.
When you start up one of the Definitive Edition games while connected to the internet, you'll also see a prompt to create or sign in to your 2K Account. Once you've logged in, your rewards for that game will unlock instantly, and will be part of your collection on that platform from then on whether or not you're logged in to your 2K Account. If you delete your save or uninstall the game, simply log in to your 2K Account again to reclaim your items
