'Matchmaking failed' When Playing Ranked 2v2 with Friends

Errors can occur after accepting an invite to Ranked 2v2 modes, or inviting a friend and
attempting to play. The errors include either:
'The matchmaking search failed. Please try again or choose a different matchmaking playlist’,
or ‘Matchmaking search cancelled by another party member.’
This has only been seen with Ranked 2v2 modes.
Workaround 1:
- Create a normal matchmaking game 2v2 with a friend
- Open a game there such as Quick Match 2v2
- Leave the game and open a 2v2 Ranked lobby
Workaround 2: XBOX users can try enabling cross-network play.
- From the Dashboard go to Settings.
- Go to Account -> Privacy & online safety
- Select Xbox privacy -> View details & customize -> Communication & Multiplayer
- Set "You can join cross-network play" to Allow

This issue appears to have been fixed by various matchmaking improvements over the last couple of patches. If you're still having this issue, please send in a ticket so we can assist you.
This issue is still being investigated. The workarounds are not a guaranteed fix for all players.
