If you are under the age required by your region to have your own 2K Account with full access to our titles, we want to help you work with your parent or guardian to set up a Parent account, then they can set up your Child Account and get you into the game!

General Parent and Child Account Questions

Q: How will I know if I am under the age required?

A: When you enter your date of birth on your 2K Account, our system will check your region and age and let you know if you need a Parent account to move on. It's that easy!

These ages are set by your region/country, and we cannot make an exception to their requirements.

Q: What if I already have an account?

A: If your existing 2K account is missing any information, we will ask you to update it when you connect it to games like LEGO 2K Drive or TopSpin 2K25. That information is a verified email address, a 2K display name, your country/region, and your date of birth. If this process detects that you need a Parent account for your region, you will be taken to the Parent account creation process, just like if you were creating a new account.

Q: Why am I being asked for parent/guardian permissions when I am already of-age?

A: 2K follows both region and game-specific guidelines around personal information collection and game access for younger gamers. Different games may have different age ranges for when parent/guardian permissions are required for 2K Child Accounts to access certain in-game features.

Q: What happens when a child becomes of-age for their region?

A: 30 days before the child's date of birth on the account would make them age up out of the requirements for having a 2K Child Account in their region, the parent will receive an email. It will let the parent know what will change when the child logs in after that date, along with some friendly advice about how to prepare your child for the responsibilities of a full 2K Account. Once the 30 days has passed, the child's email will receive a direct notice and logging into the game will generate an in-game prompt to update the account, along with another message to the parent's email address.

Q: Why does a child need their own 2K Child Account?

A: 2K follows region-specific guidelines regarding data collection and game access for younger gamers who are not old enough to create a full 2K Account themselves. 2K Child Accounts give parents and guardians of younger players control over which in-game features or modes their child is allowed to access, such as Online Play and Chat, so that they can set the access permissions that are appropriate for their child.

Q: I already have a 2K Account, can I let my child play on my 2K Account?

A: It’s recommended to create a 2K Child Account for your child. This lets you better manage their experience in specific games without impacting your own gameplay experience.

Q: What parental choices and controls are available to me as a parent or guardian?

A: When a parent or guardian sets up a 2K Child Account, they can grant or remove permissions for their child's access to certain game features or modes for games designed to work with the 2K Child Account.

Examples of these permissions include:

  • Online Play: Access online game modes.

  • In-Game Store: Allow purchases of in-game currency with real money.

  • User-Generated Content Sharing: Allow creation and sharing of custom in-game content.

  • Voice Chat: Access voice chat functionality.

  • Text Chat: Access text chat functionality.

Q: What if the Child Account doesn't get a parent or guardian to set up a Parent account?

A: You can still play offline, but all online LEGO 2K Drive play will require that you have that Parent account to connect with your Child Account. In the case of TopSpin 2K25, a Child Account can only play offline modes.

Q: How can I create a 2K Child Account for my child?
A: Where supported, you can create a 2K Child Account in-game by selecting any feature or mode that requires it, such as Online Play. This will prompt you and your child to complete the 2K Child Account creation process. Follow the steps provided in-game and that's it!

Q: How can I delete my 2K Child Account?

A: You can contact Customer Support to request the deletion of your 2K Child Account.

Q: How can a parent update/manage permissions on their child’s 2K Child Account?

A: A child can request permission updates by logging into their 2K Child Account, going to privacy settings, and clicking "Request Update." Their parent or guardian will then receive an email to edit their child’s permissions.

A parent or guardian can also update the permissions for the 2K Child Account.

Q: I have already set up parent/guardian controls on my console / PC account. Do I need to set them here?

A: Yes, you need to set permissions for each game that uses a 2K Child Account. 2K honors platform parent/guardian controls, but additional controls apply to games that are accessed by 2K Child Accounts.

Q: Will the permissions set up for a 2K Child Account apply to all games?

A: No, 2K Child Account permissions are set on a per-game basis. The parent/guardian can update those permissions at any time.

Q: What personal information are you collecting from my child?

A: If you create a 2K Child Account for your child, we collect certain information about your child like their username, profile, geolocation, and email address. Additional details are available in the Children’s Privacy Policy.

Q: I already have a 2K Account and I got a message saying that my 2K Account will be deleted. What should I do?

A: If your 2K Account was flagged for deletion, you can contact Customer Support if you believe this was in error or have concerns.

ID Verification & Age Assurance

Q: Why does 2K need a parent or guardian’s email address for a 2K Child Account?

A: We need an email address for a parent or guardian so that Kids Web Services (our age assurance vendor) can use it to start the adult verification process. This is required to verify the parent or guardian is an adult so that we can give them control over their child’s 2K Child Account once verified.

Q: Why do you need my government ID?

A: 2K does not collect your government ID. Kids Web Services may collect it to verify you as an adult. Additional information is available in the Kids Web Services Privacy Policy.

Q: Why do you need my credit or debit card?

A: 2K does not collect payment card information. Kids Web Services may collect it to verify you as an adult. Additional information is available in the Kids Web Services Privacy Policy.

Your payment card will not be linked to your child’s 2K Child Account to enable future purchases.

Q: Are there any other ways for me to verify my identity?

A: Yes, depending on the country or region, there may be other verification methods. More information on what verification options are available for your country/region can be found in the Kids Web Services verification FAQ.
